Understanding the Checkout Flow

How the Checkout Works

CashierLogic's checkout runs as an overlay on your existing store page. When a customer clicks "Buy Now" or proceeds from the cart, the checkout overlay appears with these steps:

Step 1: Contact

The customer enters their phone number. An OTP is sent for verification. If the customer has shopped before, their saved address auto-fills.

Step 2: Address

The customer enters or selects their shipping address. For Indian stores, entering a pincode auto-fills city and state via India Post lookup. Google Maps auto-complete is also available if configured.

Step 3: Payment

The customer chooses their payment method:

  • UPI — direct UPI payment
  • Card — debit/credit card via 3D Secure
  • Netbanking — bank transfer
  • Wallet — mobile wallets
  • COD — Cash on Delivery (if eligible)

Step 4: Confirmation

After payment, the order is created on your platform and the customer sees a confirmation page with order details.

Checkout Modes

Overlay Mode (Default)

The checkout appears as a slide-in panel on your store page. The customer never leaves your site. This is the recommended mode for best conversion rates.

Redirect Mode (Legacy)

The customer is redirected to CashierLogic's hosted checkout page. This mode is used as a fallback when overlay mode is not supported.

Cart Drawer

CashierLogic also includes an enhanced cart drawer with conversion features:

  • Progress bar (e.g., "Add X more for free shipping")
  • Countdown timer for urgency
  • Product upsells
  • Trust badges
  • Delivery estimates
  • COD nudge (discount for choosing prepaid)

These features are configured in your dashboard under Settings.
